27th Summer School of Polish in Cieszyn

In August 2017, University of Silesia campus in Cieszyn is awaiting students from all over the world! About 200 foreigners from more than 30 countries will take part in the 27th Summer School of Polish Language, Literature and Culture, held 1-28 August 2017 at the beautiful campus in the park on the Olza river.

Every year, the summer course is prepared by the teachers of the School of Polish Language and Culture (www.sjikp.us.edu.pl) led by prof. dr hab. Jolanta Tambor. Foreigners from the Americas, all Europe and remote places in Asia will arrive to the University of Silesia in Cieszyn in order to study Polish hard, explore Polish history, culture, customs, monuments and us, Poles for four weeks in that beautiful town. The programme includes 80 hours of Polish course, 20 hours of individual tutorial, 40 hours of seminars on Poland, 4 trips to the most interesting places in southern Poland.

            Moreover, the summer school has a wealth of other attractions: afternoon and evening meetings, games, concerts, poetry evenings, students’ theatrical performance and Translators’ Tournament. The central point is the International Polish Dictation, held on 15 August, where the participants will fight for the title of Foreign Champion of Polish, and for free admission to the next summer school. On the same day in the afternoon, students will present their countries during the Evening of Nations in the centre of Cieszyn – they will sing, dance and offer the spectators delicacies of their national cuisines. After a month of study they will leave, with a wealth of experience, new friendships, and, most importantly, with considerably better command of Polish.
