BlackBird's music draws inspiration from the work of jazz icons such as Keith Jarrett, Tomasz Stanko, Marcus Miller and legendary Miles Davis as well as from the sounds of the new generation represented by Robert Glasper and Christian Scott. Nevertheless of the vital influences the strength of this quintet funded in 2012 is really the freshness of sound, with the uncommon precision the band arranges their own compositions and manages with great skill to stay miles away from the trap of repeating the well known standards.

The character and unique experience of each of the band members penetrates their work smoothly meandering between jazz, jazz rock, rock and fusion. The lyric of american mainstream stands up against the powerful rhythm section bearing an immense load of energy. The Slavic soul is manifested in unrestrained improvisations that also prove the incredible skills of each of the musicians. And to complete their original sound, the full package is infused with dark, cold variations inspired by scandinavian sound. Fresh. Original. Inspiring.

BlackBird members: Michał Walczak - electric guitar, Michał Rorat - piano, Paweł Surman - trumpet, Bartek Bednarek - bass, Michał Dziewiński - drums
