When Warsaw-based singer-songwriter Brodka was creating the songs that would become Clashes, she took their working titles from the map stretched across the wall in the room where she wrote . Most of the tracks were eventually retitled (the exception is Haiti, a song, intriguingly, about “sexual cannibalism”)  but even without their geographical reference points, Clashes still feels like one hell of a trip, it’s dizzying, dazzling  spin through orchestral pop, cosmic poetry and visceral punk the work of an artist leaping boundaries, collecting experiences, roaming free. With Clashes, her first English-language album, Brodka is taking flight.
